Living in Canada is the dream of countless Brazilians. No wonder, the country is one of the main destinations for students in Brazil who intend to pursue higher education. Professionals in the health sector can follow a path of study, to work in the training area in the near future.
But how can Brazilian nurses organize themselves to work in the health sector in Canadian lands? Where to start? Which course to consider? When to start?
You may not find exactly all the answers in this post, but who knows, this content will help make your Canada Plan more tangible.

Follow Enfermommy’s responses below.
1- In general terms, what is the path that a nurse trained in Brazil should follow to be able to work in Canada?
Daniela Aguiar – Enfermommy: When we think about Nursing in Canada we cannot generalize, since each Province, through its College of Nurses, dictates the rules for validating an international nurse's diploma.
So, firstly you must define which province the person will live in and then check what the rules are.
It is worth mentioning that only in Quebec is it possible to be hired while the professional is still in Brazil, but revalidation must be carried out upon arrival in Canadian lands.
For other provinces, the diploma must be validated first. In most cases, the most viable alternative would be to come to Canada on a study visa.
2- Will taking a course in the health sector in Canada qualify/license Brazilian nurses to work after completing the course?
Daniela Aguiar – Enfermommy: In short, no! Upon completion of the course, the professional cannot work as a nurse. The nurse has to, in any case, start the validation process and the course will be part of that. But normally the student can work as a healthcare worker during the course until completing the validation process.
3- What are the main suggestions you would make for nurses and other health professionals who want to work in Canada?
Daniela Aguiar – Enfermommy: 3. For those whose profession is regulated here, my advice is to always do a lot of research and familiarize yourself with how the validation process works in the Province you intend to live in. I suggest planning well and evaluating all possibilities.
