DISCOVER EXPRESS ENTRY.

DO YOU WANT TO IMMIGRATE TO CANADA? THEN DISCOVER EXPRESS ENTRY.

Canada is a country open to immigration and has several ways to immigrate. One of the most famous is an online system called Express Entry, created in 2015 and used to analyze and select – through points – the profile of qualified workers who wish to become permanent residents in Canada.

Canada needs immigrants, but its immigration body (IRCC – Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) is very demanding in their selection, as it needs qualified labor for its workforce and also people who contribute to its economy and population growth. The goal of attracting more permanent residents is high. Canada's strategic plan has goals for obtaining permanent residents in the coming years. By 2024, the plan aims to admit 485,000 new permanent residents. This goal increases to 500,000 in both 2025 and 2026, demonstrating a strategic commitment to maintaining stable immigration policies.

Do you want to be part of this statistic? So let's study a little about the subject!

O Express Entry has three categories, covering federal programs, which are:

Canadian Experience Class – for skilled workers with Canadian work experience. This work experience must have been acquired within 3 years before applying to the EE.

Federal Skilled Worker Program – for qualified workers with foreign work experience.
It must meet education criteria and other factors such as language, age, adaptability, etc.

Federal Skilled Trades Program – for qualified workers in a specialized field. Must have a valid job offer or qualification certificate.

Provincial Nominee Programs – there are also provincial programs that can select some candidates from the pool of EE, according to the labor demand needs of each province.

One thing that every Canadian immigration candidate should know is that all categories have their prerequisites and several steps, including submitting documents and exams. Basically, you will have to prove: qualified work experience, required education level, language ability (varies according to each category) and proof of funds. The level of language proficiency is assessed according to the Canadian Language Benchmark Level, the CLB.

Express Entry is not valid for the province of Quebec, which has another system.

How does it work after the candidate creates their profile?

After an interested applicant submits an online profile, the federal government determines whether they are eligible for a program managed by the Express Entry. Eligible candidates are accepted into pool of Express Entry and are ranked according to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which is a points-based system used by the government to evaluate and rank candidates.

The score is calculated based on the candidate's age, educational background, work experience, language proficiency (English and/or French, proven through tests such as IELTS or CELPIP for English and TEF and TCF for French), among other factors. You will also need to show some evidence such as a criminal record, proof of funds (to prove that you can support yourself and your family, if applicable, upon arrival in Canada) and medical examinations.

Approximately every two weeks, the Canadian government selects candidates with the highest score of pool of Express Entry and sends them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to obtain permanent residency.

Some things that can give you additional points:

– Have studied at a higher education institution in Canada (the number of points varies according to the length of study);

– In addition to English, have some command of the French language;

– Have siblings living in Canada as permanent residents;

– Have a job offer in Canada;

– Receive a provincial nomination (Provincial Nominee Program);

– Have worked in Canada legally.
