Will your standard of living change in Canada?

This is one of the fears many Brazilians have when immigrating. Many people who come to Canada – especially the more mature ones – have a good economic life in Brazil, with jobs, comfortable homes and everything else. Leaving everything behind and starting over in an unknown country, where professional life begins again, can bring some fears and one of them is “will my standard of living change?” or even “is it worth immigrating?

Your standard of living may have other criteria when living in Canada and you will value things such as having more free time for yourself and your family, quality public services, a stable economy and more job opportunities. Also, if things like security and living in a fairer country are your priorities, Canada could be the ideal place for you. The beginning of life as an immigrant is not easy, but if well planned, you will have an incalculable return in terms of quality of life.

Living here we see up close how a good education – from elementary school to university – can positively impact the lives of everyone in society. From a young age, Canadians and everyone who studies here, whether immigrants or not, are encouraged to practice critical thinking and debate ideas, as well as respect for diversity. This translates into a sense of responsibility and ethics in relation to what is collective, an appreciation of the common good and respect for others.

Canada won first prize in the annual Best Countries Report, 2021

According to the news site blogTO, for the first time in the six-year history of the study, Canada was considered the best country in the world in general, beating Switzerland, a country that has held the title since 2017. The report evaluated 79 nations using 76 different metrics or attributes, taking into account how countries are viewed in their economy, military presence, education and quality of life. Several new metrics were added to this year's report, including racial equity, commitment to social justice, adaptability, and commitment to climate goals.

Canada is still considered one of the safest in the world to live, with one of the best quality of life of any country, in addition to being a beautiful place, full of stunning landscapes.
